Design for Recycling
Elgin Recycling advocates Design for Recycling (DFR)®. DFR is a national policy created and promoted by the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI). This program supports the consideration for recyclability of products. Manufacturers are urged to consider the following principles when designing and manufacturing goods:
1. Making Consumer Products Recyclable
2. Reducing Environmental Risks from Consumer Products
3. Controlling Special Environmental Problems
4. Assistance to Manufacturers of Consumer Durables
